Fuel Leak

Post by chrissvitak » Sun Sep 30, 2012 5:22 pm

I have a 1983 Goldwing Interstate 1100 with a mere 53k miles on it.

Over the past few weeks I had noticed poor performance from a fuel MPG standpoint. I knew the fuel pump was going bad, so I replaced it. Now, I am seeing a leak when I throttle. Honestly, I have no idea what is leaking but it seems to be getting worse. Below is a picture of the area where it is leaking, not a lot but enough to cause concern.

Can someone give me an educated guess on what could be leaking. I have the service manual for the bike too already but it seems very vague to pinpoint the problem. Maybe somewhere to begin.

Could be a float valve that is now overwhelmed by the higher pressure from the new pump, causing a float chamber to overflow?

It could also be a pinhole in a fuel line that was disturbed during the pump replacement.

Just a couple places to start, anyway.
