1983 aspencade

i was planning to use the tourmaster electric pants they draw 3.7 amps will the stock alternator handle this load with out damage?

If you have no other electrical accessories (i.e. extra lights, etc.), you will be able to run those with no problem. Don't spend a lot of time idling, as the bike already draws down the battery at idle, and with the extra load of the pants, you'll be drawing down the battery faster.

Put a voltmeter on your bike. You'll then always know if you're exceeding the electrical capacity of the stator at any given engine RPM, as the voltage will start to fall instead of remaining steady.
