FORKS SEALS ON AN 83

Postby RBGERSON » Tue Oct 30, 2012 10:06 am

Can the forks be pulled/bounced off an 83 like the 80 and 81's? I know the 83's had the trac system on the bottom..very different set up than the earlier models. So can I just jack the bike up, pull the wheel/speedo cable, take the bottom set bolt out and yank/pop the bottom tubes off?? Or do I have to pull the forks off the bike to get them apart?

Same same.....Just remove the retainer that's on top of the seal.....pop it a few times and it will drop off, leaving the dust cap, retainer, seal and slide bushings on the fork.
The seal is what will stick tight to the tube.
