Hello. I recently bought a '82 Goldwing Interstate, first one, about a month ago. 17,000 on the odometer and looks pretty good. Just want to say I have been looking over the site and look forward to participating. For now it's rear brake locking, leaky front left fork and not firing on #1 below 2500-3000 rpms. I'm on my fourth tank of Seafoam w/no results. I will be taking apart the caliper today, have ordered a Sealmate for the front fork and will be taking apart the carbs in the near future. I hope to make it cruiseworthy by next spring. Thanks for all the helpful information I have already found here.

The locked rear brake is usually due to the master cylinder return port. Have a look at step 17 onward in How to rebuild your rear master cylinder.

Thanks. I'm leaning towards the caliper at this time since I pumped the pedal, loosened the banjo bolt (bleeder screw stuck) and very little fluid came out and the wheel remained locked. Also, I looked up from underneath and noticed rust around the rim of one piston where it meets the pad.

Just a side note....Even tho the odometer says 17,000 miles....it could just as well be 117,000 or even 217,000.
Its hard to tell with the wings. They seem to last forever. :D
Double check everything during your maintenance.
Timing belts...replace them
Check the water pump too.
etc,etc. :)

Well said. Belts are definitely on the to do list along with rear tire and those other things I mentioned. Haven't done a compression test, but so far so good after 500 miles or so. I've rebuilt GL500 carbs and I'm hoping a good cleaning will get the #1 cylinder up and running right.
