You said you couldn't start the bike or it wouldn't start, How did it act, did it crank fine? Or was it slow cranking.?..If it was slow cranking then yes I would run to the battery store, a good idea is to use a maintainer for the battery...Make sure your charging system is functioning, if you need help with that just say so.. :D Oh, I bought myself one of those AGM type batteries because I didn't want to fudge with battery acid...Or have to check it..ever... :D

Interesting-my bike cranks fine in the cold - 40 or 45 degress - choke works fine - but I gotta play with the gas for a minute or two till it settles down enough to idle smoothly. I thought that perhapes its just a cold hearted "beast". Or does the choke need adjusted? Regards, Johnyy

Did you give the new battery a full charge before trying to start the bike?

its the starter, took it apart and cleaned it. bushing are short and inside use super packed with black dust, put back together and it did turn over, but no start

going to get a rebuild kit.

Sorry this happened to you, if the battery was a few years old it was probably time for a new one anyway...The maintainer will help..Be sure to check the ground to the frame, the cable that goes to the bolt at the frame, I'd clean that sucker up well..

maybe your engine oil gets too thick in cold weather and it causes the bad starting? what kind of oil are you using?

You mentioned getting rebuild kit, mine starts fine when its cool. When I ride and stop to get gas or a soda, it acts like the battery isnt charged. I have checked all connections and battery is fine. So I believe it will need a rebuild. Where can I find a good but budget kit?
