Postby hockeystuff54 » Mon Nov 26, 2012 11:16 am

i found that when bike was in nuetral and sitting on level ground, the bike seemed awfull hard to push ,so have it in the shop and on center stand, with the front wheel off the ground ,the front wheel turne smooth but is very tight, there is no brake drag so i assume the bearings are in need of replacement ,i assume the bearings have never been done ,its an 80 wing ,im in the process of rebuilding the bike so im gonna change out front and back bearings ,whats the average life of bearings

It depends on how much moisture, temperatures, load on the bike, mileage....there isn't one "average" life of bearings.

Remove the brake caliper and try to re-spin the wheel. If it still binds, then go for the bearings. If it spins freely, look at your brakes.

Also check your rear wheel to make sure it's not binding - rear wheel brake binding is common.
