Clarion radio repair

Postby fivesalone » Sun Dec 23, 2012 1:12 pm

My radio sound is garbled when the volumn is turned up past half way. The tape deck volumn works well so I assume it is the radio that has problems. It sounds the same way on the back helmet plug in and thru the dash speakers so I think the radio has issues. I have tried to locate a repair house but I have struck out there. My son who is a computer repair/TV repair/game boy repair guy tore it apart and he didn't see anything obviously wrong. Can you give me some thoughts? Thanks

First off, are you sure it's not the speakers?

It could be the power transistors in the amplifier. If it is the radio/amplifier itself, you won't find a better deal than to send it to Sierra Electronics, who will fix it for a flat fee of $100.
