Question :?: on 82 Aspencade, is fan set to run all time or just when temp get hot nuff to kick on? :?: Way is now soon as key is turned on fan runs. :?

every wing I've owned...78-88...the fan is controlled by a temp switch located in the same housing as the thermostat.
Now that doesn't mean the switch is bad,the wire that hooks to it may be pinched to the frame.The wire is grounded to turn on the fan.

Easy thing first.Locate the 2 wire plug on the switch and unplug it.Not the single wire one,that's the temp sending unit.The thermal switch has 2 terminals.One wire( green) goes to ground, the other comes from the fan.As soon as it's unplugged,the fan should quit.If it does,the switch is bad.If it does not,the wire is pinched and grounded somewhere.
I've heard that there are replacement thermal switched out there.Single wire type, you would only need the wire from the fan connected as it has it's own ground.
I'm sure a "Search" would yeild more results.

Lots of PO's wire the fan to run all the time when the switch goes out, cheap "fix"..
