Missing Speedo Cable Screw

Postby tdholloway » Mon Jan 14, 2013 4:48 pm

I am missing the screw that goes into the front hub for the speedo cable. Can anyone tell me what size or I there a certain one to get?
When I bought the bike it was missing and the guydidn't know what happened to it.
Any information will help.

Thanks for the help. Now with just a little more work, I can have it back on the road.

5X20. I replaced mine with an allen head, because the phillips was stripped out, and a real bear to get out. Ace hardware, 39 cents.

If I remember correctly, it is a countersunk screw. I replaced the one on my 1100 with one from Ace hardware as well, as I lost mine. I used a bit of low-strength Loctite on the replacement.

Found one that works and now am still waiting on my slacker friend to check out the carbs and put everything back together.
I REALLY need to get a set of tools and learn to do work on my bike.
I can do the minor stuff but when it comes to the more complicated stuff, I'm lost.
I hate relying on friends.
I bought the bike at the end of November and he began work on it on December 1 and is still going.
All that needed done was the rear shocks replaced (done), all 3 calipers rebuilt (done), carbs checked (not done), tune up and oil change while he is at it (not done) and put the saddlebags beck on (not done). It's been a month since he has done any work on the bike and it sucks because its free labor and I cant afford to pay anyone.
Oh well, I will be on it soon.
