ok so this is an old subject that won't go away. during the summer i run rotella 15w40 and it works well untill the air temp goes below 40f then bike doesn't like to start. so for cold weather i run 10w40 bike oil wich allows it to start and run fine but doesn't like to shift. maybe she's getting too old? bike has less than 53k so should just be getting broken in about now.

Have you ever run Seafoam through the crankcase? I have 79,000 miles on my GL1100i and it still shifts with ease. I run a Seafoam course every spring just before an oil change. I have always used Rotella 10W40. Just don't hit it hard while there is Seafoam in there. I go about 100 miles running it light, and then change the oil and filter. I also do this on my 1988 Ford f-150 and it runs almost as good as when I bought it new in '88. Just sharing my experience with ya.
