remove crome

I have some crome intake manifolds that are pitting a bit. How do I get the crime off so I can polish the aluminum? Or should I just buy a set off eBay?

I've found a wadded up a handful of aluminum foil and some elbow grease will get rid of a lot of the surface pitting. Then it hit with Brasso.
