Antifreez leak

Postby rthomas » Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:34 am

I have an 82 Aspencade that has a slight leak where the flow pipe goes from the thermostat to the heads. It is not a big leak but it is there. How hard is it to repair this problem? Can I do it myself or do I need to have a machanic to it. I looked in the parts manual and there is O rings that go there. Would it be hard to change them?

It's fairly simple, and it's a common leak point. Changing the O-rings will fix the leak.

It's fairly easy to do. You will need 4 o-rings, and 2- gaskets.

You'll need to remove your false tank, to access the radiator cap. Other than that, you remove the crossover tube(x2), and replace both o-rings on the tube. The worst part of the job is getting the old gasket material off of the tube, and head.

Once the rings are on, grease em' up, and push(like hell) back in. Tighten it up, add the ant-freeze, and your done.
