GL 1100 Fuel gauge fix

Postby wingsteve » Wed Feb 20, 2013 4:53 pm

I was wondering if anyone knew what the voltage swing should be at the fuel gauge from empty to full?
Thanks for any help to pinpoint the fuel gauge working right.

Hi wingsteve, Honda says 75-80 ohms at bottom of float travel and 6-10 ohms at top of travel, hope this gets you going. Welcome to the site, you will get plenty of help here. Bob

Hey Bob thanks for that. I was measering the voltage at the gauge as I moved the float up and down. Now you say ohms. How do you go about measering ohms? Do you put the ohm meter leads on the gauge while you move the float up and down, or at the sending unit while you move the float up and down?

Hi Wingsteve

Set your multimeter to measure resistance (ohms). Select range between 100-200 ohms.

You measure across the two terminals on the fuel sender, and the measured resistance (in ohms) will vary as you raise or lower the sender float.

If you measure ~ the values noted by Winger3 from the Honda manual the sender is working as expected.
