Clutch disks and damper plate

Postby lhelber » Sun Feb 24, 2013 8:59 pm

I have the back end of my 83 Aspencade apart because I had to remove the fuel tank. I was talking about adjusting the clutch when it was suggested that the adjustment is near the end so I may need to replace it. The bike has 85K on it. With the back end out already changing the clutch would be easy to do. I looked online at the parts required and noticed the middle plate also referred as the damper is no longer available from Honda. Does plate not wear out? What about the steel friction plates should they be replaced at the same time. A very knowledgeable motorcycle mechanic says yes but I don't see replacements offered for sale much.

i'd just do the friction plates. with only 85k the steel plates should still be good. just my opinion, if it ain't broke.......
