Ole Betsie is getting a new face lift

Postby Wilcoy02 » Sun Mar 03, 2013 10:46 pm

When I started my trip from Ohio to Sturgis last summer my front fender blew off after only 60 miles into my trip.
I found a bike at the bottom of a pile of junk on our first night camping. I knocked and the guy said I could get his front fender off a gl1100. It had been out in the hot sun and cold winters for about 10 years. It was in sad shape. BUT I put it on my bike and off to sturgis we went.

Well the fender led to the other parts of the bike.

So now I have 12 pieces steel wooled with course ,med, fine, wet/dry sandpaper 600, 1000, 2000, and finally 2500

bought 10 cans of rattle paint black and 10 cans of clear.

So now Ole Betsie is finally getting her face lift after 33 years.
Will post more pics as they get here.

I went to the hobby shop and took my side panel with me. They had a package of prostripe that matched the big and little line that was on the side panel perfectly.
It comes with two sides of sticky. Peel the white backing off and apply the stripes where you want them placed. After the stripes are in place, then I peeled the clear plastic off the stripes. The clear plastic is where mother Honda did not take this off. This is the plastic that is causing the brittleness to brake down after 30+ years.

When it came to the curves I stuck both stripes on where it was straight. Then I cut the two stripes apart leaving both sticky tapes in place. I carefully stuck one strip on following the curve I wanted. Then did the same with the second stripe.
Removed both clear tapes off the top of the stripes.

The package was $3.00 for 40 ft

This package did both saddle bags, lids, Front fender, side covers, and tank
