Im working on a 1982 GL1100 A clutch, I opened the clutch because clutch was not working at all.
After open it up I the center push pin was missing - I get one for this year hoping that this would salve the problem of not working. But the clutch cover will not fit back on with it in place. I have pulled the clutch plates and cleaned & mic'd - checked out ok. ( everything looked ok) So I put everything back and started to tighten the locking nut but the clutch basket seems to be moving as I tighten the nut down. Im working with motor in frame and bike in 1st gear and back brake locked down. But the clutch basket is still moving as I tighten the lock nut down. Can the chain on the back side of the clutch be bad or off gears? Any suggestions or fixes for this problem. This is the first time I have worked on any clutch. This Goldwing needs to get back on the road again!
