rubbing noise

hi. i have a strange rubbing noise coming from the right side rear of my gl1100 it seems to speed up and slow down relative to speed i cannot see any rub marks on the tyre.its not very loud can be heard with clutch in or coasting as well as in gear so far i have no clue any ideas gratefully recieved

It could be anything related to the entire drive line.
Set the bike on the center stand(even if you have to block it up)..hand turn the rear tire to see if you can determine where the noise is coming from.
The most common is the sidewall just touching the swing arm.
There's a bunch of moving parts on the right side....
The drive shaft,universal joint,splined coupler,differential,wheel coupler,rubber dampers ,oil seals,dust seals,etc
