Greetings and a question

Postby Curbe » Sat Apr 13, 2013 2:39 pm

Greetings all, new here with an 82 1100 Aspencade.

I may have missed topic on this already so apologies if I have.
The bike is new to me and on a recent ride in lower gears (as well as when parked) the throttle seems to have full movement. But every now and then it feels as if the throttle is fighting me and I do not have full range of movement, especially when in 4th or 5th. Though the machine will get up to 80mph it is slower than I would expect and as I said, I am pulling back with little movement available left in the throttle handle.
Would this be indicative of one of the cables binding and needing replaced?

Thanks in advance for any opinions on the matter.

????? Check to see if the fuel filter is getting in the way of the carburetor linkage? This will give you low speed throttle, but may be getting in the way at full throttle. Good luck.

welcome to the forum. first things i would check:
1, lube handgrip at handlebar
2, check for binding, kinking in cables. if none, lubricate. cables may be misadjusted.
3, check for binding where cables attach to carbs. lubricate.
4, check fuel filter, fuel lines for blockage.
if none of these solve your problem you may have a carb/fuel supply issue.
