Air Shocks on GL1100

Postby oldirish » Sat Apr 13, 2013 4:52 pm

Brand new to GL1100 Aspencade "82" ownership.

Do the stock air shocks lift of GL1100 much when pressure increased? Reason for the question I am having a H of a time getting Wing on center stand, on level ground?

The purpose of the air shocks is not to lift the bike, rather to SUPPORT the bike when there is increased load. For instance, you would pump the pressure up if you had a passenger, lots of stuff in the bags, or both.

If the bike is low enough that you can't get it on the center stand, first have a look at How to get a Goldwing on and off the center stand. If that doesn't help, your springs are probably just tired out. I know when I replaced my 1100's rear shocks with new Progressives, it sat up a good 3/4 to an inch higher. 35 years is a long time for springs to hold up a heavy bike.
