Gauges for 82 GL1100

Postby 1fastgl1100 » Mon Apr 22, 2013 5:39 pm

I want to replace the factory Gauges on my 82 GL1100 and want to know if anyone has done this and what gauges they have used. I am looking at a sunpro Fuel and Engine Temp gauges and I am not sure if I will need to update the sending units or not...
Any help?

I don't know about those gauges, but any gauge that can accurately read 0-7 volts, and can be calibrated the way you like should work. You will want to do some measurement with the senders to make sure the gauges register correctly - particularly the red line on the temp gauge!

I have been looking for gauges for my Motorhome, and find that gauges such as water temp (coolant), oil pressure, and fuel, all seem to require their own sender. The gauge is probably calibrated to suit a particular sender. However, having said that, you can buy senders separately, so I would give it a 'suck it and see" approach to see if your gauges are reasonably accurate for the existing senders. Try and find the specs for the various senders, both existing and proposed, to see if there are differences, and then work out the impact.

The world is not going to finish today, as it is already tomorrow in Australia and New Zealand, and other islands of foreign nations such as Guam and Samoa.
