83GL1100I Front Master Cylinder

Postby scottsman29 » Tue Apr 23, 2013 12:44 am

Hello,

My front brake is locked in the one position. From everything I have read, it seems to be the reservoir's pressure release port being clogged. When I looked inside, sure enough it is brown inside. I got a new reservoir from Parts N' More (as mine was rotting eh), but though that while I am at it I might as well rebuild the mater cylinder. When I looked online on Parts' N More, I see 2 different rebuild kits with different part numbers. Which one do I use? Part number 08-0264 or 08-0262?

Have you tried repeated flushings? This is reported to work on a clogged pressure release on many occasions.

No I haven't. This is my first time doing any kind of work on a bike. So by repeated flushing do you mean fill the reservoir, press the brake lever pushing fluid through the line, drain in it, and repeat? This is also my first bike, and I am trying to learn all I can. So if some of my questions seem basic, just bare with me eh.
