Hard to find non ethanol fuel

Post by tunaboy » Tue May 07, 2013 11:37 am

I have only run pure gas in my 1100 and always try to avoid the ethanol. This is getting harder to do. I know that the stuff is bad on the rubber parts in my carbs. Anything I should be adding on a regular basis when using the "bad" gas. Seafoam, ATF, MMO, Stabil, etc? My bike runs pretty good now and I would like to keep it that way.

So far I haven't had any issues using 10% ethanol fuel in my ride...I do not use it th the mower or weed whacker tho...
If you really need no ethanol gas,you can make it yourself.....Add a cup of water to 5 gallons and shake it up,next day pour out the no ethanol gas...leaving the water obviously. The ethanol is attached to the water.
There may be some magic snake oil you can add to the fuel tank, but I've never used any.

Might have to go out of town to find it. Here`s a list by state.

The worst it can do from what I've found is that if sitting for an extended time it will separate with the water and can cause issues. If not storing for an extended period of time, such as winter storage, then you should be ok. If you are storing it then Sta-bil makes an ethanol blend. You are more than likely going to get some ethanol into your system from the pump. If the guy in front of you put in ethanol blended fuel into his vehicle and then you use the same pump, even if you select premium without the 10% ethanol blend in it, guess what has to purge out between the valve selector and the nozzle on the end of the hose and guess where that 10% blend is going. You could be talking only about a gallon, but with a 5 gallon tank you still will get some unless that pump doesn't even have it. It actually burns cleaner and will clean out your tank and lines, you may end up having to change fuel filter, but after it cleans out your system it should actually run better. I have been running it in my bikes for years as well as in all my cars, and I have no issues from it. I also work for a company that makes it.

More likely to be .25-.30 of a gallon. You'd need 40 feet of hose and internal dispenser hard line to make up a gallon.
With a quarter gallon in five, it's diluted to one-twentieth, so 0.5% alcohol.
