Starting issues

I tried to start my 1980 GL1100 and nothing happened. All of the lights turned on but NO crank. Please help

Pull the cover off the battery.turn on the key and push the start button.
Do you hear the start solenoid to the right of the battery 'click' ?
If it clicks,use a test probe or volt meter and probe the lug on the starter.
Push the start button again.If there is volts,you have starter issues,no volts..check the battery post of the solenoid for volts.
If it does not click...pull in the clutch handle and try again.
Many more test points can narrow the problem down.
Let us know what happens so far.
