82 radio

Postby husker » Wed May 29, 2013 1:39 pm

I just purchased an 82 wing Aspencade. My radio works.. but not at first. It is really static at first, but after a few minutes it kinda clears up. Any idea what this could be? Bad radio? Speakers? Wiring? Thanks in advance.

Old age. After 30 years, the electrolytic capacitors don't work like they are supposed to. Eventually it will drift off and not tune in any stations at all. Contact Sierra Electronics, they're they only people that fix them, and will fix it for a flat $100 fee.

Im not advertising here.... but after doing some checking around. I think im gonna go with something like this. It has a weatherproof remote, and you can sync it up with bluetooth (for the wifes phone) or connect it to your i-phone. It will charge your i-phone while plugged in, and the remote will control your phone, making it easy, and then you can leave your phone in the compartment with the amp. Its a little pricey but its not cheap to fix the radio either. You just wont have an am/fm radio, unless you do the I-heart radio.
