Next project, radio ideas

Postby penntoy123 » Fri Jun 07, 2013 4:35 pm

Next week I will be finishing up the upholstery and I just put a vent on the windshield. I am looking to update/replace the radio. My idea is to remove the original radio ( box up and store) and mount a radio in the left pocket. I'll remove the controls and make some kind of cover. Has anyone mounted a radio in one of the pockets? I am also looking for ideas for rear speakers, like yamaha's venture. I will save the old radio incase I sell in the next twenty or so years, maybe the next owner will want it.

Tried a standard car radio..just dropped it in with some foam aroudn it worked OK..need an amp to kick the sound up..then I went to an HD radio wit6h a remote by cord channel changed better..needed an AMp to make it work it didn't have ANY sound without it...used the OEm speakers with both worked well..only issue was I had to set the amp to one sound level as it mounted in the pocket too, kind of pain toe adjust the volume.

I'll look for the HD model I had it was good...bought on Ebay new...$65

Have you considered an MP3 player with FM transmitter? They are small one piece that plugs into the cigarette lighter, no need to mount then just use your existing radio to play your favorites, and allot of them I might add. Way easier then cutting and stripping.

I bought one of those too. MPS/Fm didn't like it much had issues tuning it in to my radio but finally got it Mp3 part worked. If I'd do it again and wanted MP3 I'd just buy a cheap MP3 player, ear buds and load my music and carry a few extra batteries they last about 6 hours so good for a day ride for sure.
