neutral indicator lamp

Postby kdott14 » Sat Jun 15, 2013 9:31 pm

First, I want to thank this site for the info on rebuilding the front brake cylinders. My 82 Gl1100 has never stopped so well, after buying the kits and following the post on how to do it. Great job. I have the rear to do yet. My question is, is the neutral light supposed to come on every time the clutch is pulled in, whether in neutral or in gear, stopped or on the road?
thanks, kdott14.

No.there is a diode/rectifier that is shorted.Annoying but does not affect cranking the bike.
It's a small part attached to the harness with 2 wires. It's about 1/2" square and maybe 1-1/2" long.
Look along the harness under the false tank on the left side of the bike.I think it's near there.
The manual shows it location better.
