Carb slide springs

Postby penntoy123 » Sun Jun 16, 2013 7:59 pm

I pulled my carbs today, I am still trying to get better than 24 mpg. I found I have two types of springs in the sliders. Three are about 3-4 inches and are very flexible, the third out of carb three while the same length is very stiff and looks to be cut and is shorter. Are all four springs suppose to be the same? Every site I look at at states they are discontinued. Is there a replacement spring? Or do I need to buy on eBay?

There suppose to be the same.
Maybe somebody on this site has a spare set.
Post a "wanted" add and see what pops up.

Yes all of them have to be the same. Don't you just love POs? E-bay or someone here may have some spares. Ask in the for sale / wanted section.

Oops Virgil beat me to this.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking too. I went in to look at the main jets(ordered those) and decided to look at the slides. I did find some springs on ebay and I'll get those ordered tonight. everthing else looks pretty good. A little cleaning and verify the floats, replace the springs and jets and then maybe I'll break the 30 MPG. In the meantime I will be cleaning and spot painting the frame and have it back on the road next week.
