When cleaning out ( flushing ) the cooling system on my wing, I have to use distilled water as to not harm the water pump???
What are you supposed to use to flush out the system when cleaning it up??
Very confused..

I bet the PO never used distilled water?
Use a flushing medium that's available in North America such as one of the SEA FOAM products suitable for radiator and cooling system flushing and refill the cooling system with a 50 50 mixture of antifreeze and distilled water.
I have never actually used distilled water as the water here in my part of the UK is hard and does not have much dissolved calcium in it which can harm the cooling systems as it can cause "Fur" build up as in a kettle. The water pump is solid piece of engineering particularly if you have the one with the steel impellor in it.

I would worry too much about the water for flushing, as it isn't in the system long enough to do any good or damage.

Just make sure the long term fill is good stuff.
