Turn Signal hiccups

Post by PeterBarnes-Smith » Sun Jul 07, 2013 4:34 pm

The right turn signal lights on my 83 Aspencade work just fine but the left turn signal lights do not flash. Instead, when I test the left turn signal without the engine running, the neutral indicator light and the oil pressure indicator light in the control panel flash at a high rate. It seems that the flasher unit is working OK but is there possibly a short across the wiring somewhere? If so how do I run it down?

It sounds like a lack of a ground at the turn lamp and its using the dash lamps for the ground.
Pull each turn lamp and attach a grounded wire to its green wire and test again.
You may never find the missing ground so the test wire can be made your new ground.
