Noisy Clutch

Postby DAVEO1100 » Mon Jul 08, 2013 7:12 pm

I have a 1980 GL1100. The clutch is engaging hard in first and second gear. It is also making a rattling sound when engaging in third and fourth. Is this an indication that the clutch is going? Thanks for your help!

You can remove the clutch cover at the back of the engine easily with the correct long socket spanners.
You may have a defective clutch spider plate centre bearing or even may have a broken clutch spring retaining plate which is made of aluminium and has to be carefully tightened down. remove the clutch cover , have a look, take action and refit with a new gasket.
Better do the with the bike on the side stand as the main stand gets in the way
