I have a '80 1100 standard. I have owned the bike since about '85. About 20 years ago I pulled off the shocks and the shop sent them somewhere for the rebuild. When I got the units back they were returned with a set of what looks like the OEM shock springs with the plastic sleeve. The shop Manuel shows the OEM shocks without any springs. What I don't know is if maybe the shocks were sent to Progressive and they put in their heavy duty springs. Were the OEM springs that were returned pulled out of my "stock" shocks to make room for the Progressives? If I remove all the air from my rear shocks and bounce the bike can I tell if there are springs inside?? I assume that the OEM shocks with no springs that the suspension would bottom out easily but I am not sure. Anybody out there with springs in the rear of their 1100's that can share your thoughts? I do know that Honda added shock springs to the later 1100's but not the 1980 model.
