NEWBIE intro and topic supplemental
Hi folks, I'm the newbie here. I'm buying a 1982 Goldwing Aspencade. As my first bike, I of course am buying the one with the infamous "engine knock" and everything I am reading here is pointing to the carbs being out of sync. The seller is telling me that the carbs have been rebuilt from the bottom up but they were never synced. My being the presumptious chucklehead that I am, decided it was something I could attempt. But from the DIY articles, it actually DOES look like something I can do. So I just thought I would introduce myself and say a word of thanks for the wonderful information posted here.

Welcome
For the carb sync, remember to constantly readjust the idle to 1000rpm after each adjustment. When your done, each carb will( or should) pull exactly the same vacuum at 1k .
Within 1/2".
Then idle it back down to 850-900.

This site is just awesome. and you folks ROCK!! I got ot buy my vacuum gauges today and hoses to build my sync machine. heh....feel a little steampunkish...LOL...some WONDERFUL DIY files on this site. I've started a gallery showing what she looked like before I bought her and will post updates as I work on her and get her spit and polished. Thanks again for the help folks!
