Brake calipers

Post by 19GoldWing83 » Wed Jul 17, 2013 9:02 pm

Does anyone know where I can find calipers for my 83 Interstate. I bought calipers from Stockers Motorcycle Parts and Salvage, but they shipped me the wrong calipers. I tried to rebuild the ones on the bike, but the pistons would no come out. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Pete.

eBay usually has a few listed any given time, also may, but I've personally never ordered there myself.

So far I've never had a caliper I couldn't get apart.
There's some tricks.Replace the bleeder with a grease zerk, use a piece of metal to restrict the pistons(if it has 2) and pump it full of grease.

Soak it down with PB Blaster. Use a c-clamp to force the pistons inward a little bit to get them moving..
Use compressed air to pop them out. Mind where you put your fingers...they will get crunched...
Put it in a bucket with Simple Green - - Persistence and determination can get them apart..
