Pilot Valve leak

Postby tunaboy » Mon Jul 22, 2013 4:41 pm

I noticed a gas smell when I park my 1100. I looked at the carbs and noticed a drop of gas on the bottom die cast rotation limiter cap. It does not drip fast but it for sure leaks a bit. I have modified the cast cap so I can adjust the mixture with out removing the cap. My first question is can I screw out the valve and remove it with the carbs in place? I think there is an O ring on the shaft that is bad. If I can get the valve out where could I buy this O ring? Would a dealer have it or be able to order it? Might this leak happen because the float is not set right?
Thanks for your help

2.8X1.1 MM O-ring.

(No, I don't happen to just know that, I looked it up on Randakks site).

BB shows it available only with the needle, so that'll be the same at the dealer.

Hey Steve THANKS a lot for the site. Do you or anyone else know if I can screw the valve out and replace the O ring with the carbs still on the bike? I am curious to see what the shipping charges would be for 4 tiny O rings and washers. I hope others can pick up on this vendor and help keep him in business.

Shouldn't be an issue.

Take a paper clip and bend a small hook in one end- use this to fish out the o- ring . Regards, Johnyy

The Oring and the Washer will need to come out and get replaced.
Usually the washer is easy to get out...but sometimes the o-ring gets mis-shapen and is harder to fish out...
if you can get your hands in there to do it..? ...
Removing the carbs on the 1100 is a real PIA although it can be done with patience and persistence...

It would a lot easier to remove the intakes- and perhaps the two bolts that secure the carbs to the air housing. Then it should be simple to move the carbs around a bit. Regards, Johnyy
