Mounting External Luggage Rack on Rear Box

Postby dwight007fchr » Sat Aug 03, 2013 3:51 pm

I have a quick question to ask the experts in here........I want to mount this chrome luggage rack on the top of my rear storage box, and when placing it on the box, the chrome mounts do not lie flat on the contour of the box top. It looks like there should be some flexible "feet" that should be inserted between the box top and the luggage rack. Can I find these parts anyplace?

Also, what size washers are typically placed on the inside of the box to keep it from cracking the box top?

Thanks for any advice

You probably need a washer kit between the trunk and rack. You can find some here:

On the inside of the trunk I used one of Rudy's reinforcement kits. Basically the trunk lid is reinforced by 1/4" thick pieces of ABS that support the rack. Washers aren't the best solution. Your trunk will likely crack.

Your welcome. You may want to get one of Rudy's reinforcement kits for the inside of the lid. Way better solution than a washer. You don't want the lid to crack.
