I have had my Wing for about a month and half now and been checking fuel mileage. I am getting about 38 MPG with all around riding. Is this about average for this bike?

I get 36 mpg without atf and 41 mpg with atf. Yes you are in the ballpark.

Around town ( stop , start ) I get 28 mpg - on a run cruising at 65mph I get approx 47mpg.
The only silly question is the one you don`t ask. Everything else is game.

I'd say that's pretty good, I get about 40 mpg out of my '82 mainly hiway after running some seafoam through it a few times and then some MMO a few tanks. Got 50 mpg out of my "81 CM400C so it was an ajustment, but more power, fairing and luggage is a big plus.

I use 75 cams and my 84 has higher gear ratios than other 1100`s. works for me.

The 80 & 81 are geared slightly diffrently than the 82 & 83 - The later years get slightly better fuel economy.

2 weekends ago we went on a trip of about 2500 miles with our 1980 GL1100 that we recently finished restoring including a complete carb rebuild and synch. It was running as well as it possibly could for the trip...excellent if you ask me...

Fuel econmy results are:
Interstate speeds (70-75 MPH) = 36-37 MPG
Country Highways (55-65 MPH) = 38 - 39 MPG
Crusing back roads in West Virginia (45 - 55 MPH) = 40-42 MPG

We did burn a little oil (1 quart per 2000 miles - but I find that acceptablefor as hard as we werer running the interstate - 75 to 85 MPH the whole time)

Here is a You Tube Video fo a cold start 1 week before the trip..

Hey Wingsconsin, thanks for taking the time to post this info and video. But I have a quick question for you. What is the groovy thing on top of your false tank?
