7 Volt Regulator Installation

Postby njooshka » Mon Sep 09, 2013 7:47 pm

Hello,

I just purchased a replacement 7 volt regulator and the instructions seem to assume that there is no faring on the bike. Is there an easy way that I can get to the back of the instrument cluster without removing the whole faring?

Thanks,

Jon

The back of the instrument cluster, believe it or not, can be removed without removing the fairing - I know, because I've done it (on my 82 GL1100A). It takes a little maneuvering, but using a stubby Philips screwdriver, you can remove the four screws on the back of the instrument center pod (show in red in the instructions), which will loosen the back cover and allow you to remove it to gain access to the regulator.
