Postby rockford75 » Thu Sep 12, 2013 10:08 pm

My wings a pig on gas! Never used to be I used to get 300 kms to a tank now i get now where near that. So would i start with a valve adjustment? Change the plugs and sync the carbs?

Depending on the last time done, I would start with a new air filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs, you would be surprised how a small tune up will make things run better. These should be changed once a year along with valve adjustments, would not hurt to run a little sea foam or MMO through it too just to clean up the carbs a little.

Second everything lacanars said - plus a carb sync.

And welcome here from a fellow Albertan. I'm just north west of you (judging by your handle).

Hey thanks for the info guys! What is Sea foam? Can you get this at any bike shop? I run a K+N airfilter and I just cleaned it. Thanks for the welcome Old Bear. I just stumbled on to this site while looking for tires for my Goldwing. I like to work on my bike myself so youll be hearing from me lots. Funny you take it to a Honda dealer and they shy away. Whats there to be afraid of? lol... So far my bike has taught me alot.

You can get Seafoam at Crappy Tire or any such place. They have a few different products - most of which are cleaners - you put it in with your oil and run the bike for a bit, then change the oil - like an enima for your bike... ;)
