Add A Radio

Postby Z28Ranger » Sun Oct 06, 2013 11:55 pm

I just purchased a 1980 GL1100 Interstate that is missing a radio. It looks like it was mounted above the speedo cluster on the faring, as there is some wiring hanging from a center hole. I can't tell from the E-bay listings (GL radio or Vetter) what would or should be mounted on the bike. I tried downloading the manual from this site, but it came up blank. Descriptions and/or pictures would be a great help. Thanks.

I believe it is a cobra 46? XLR. it is an AM/FM/CB radio. I will look on mine to be sure of the model number shortly. I went thru and re routed/ replaced some of the wires on mine last night. I have decided to keep it original for now. I need to find the passenger plug, and driver/passenger head sets to go with mine. If any one has one of these PM me!

I'm new to this site - do you have a photo of the setup on your bike?

I have the bike stripped for painting, but here is the radio and housing with the speakers. there are 2 plugs on the left hand side that you cant see in this pic I don't think. one is for a mic, and the other is for helmet mount ear peace and mic.
