Clicking noise around the calipers

Postby tmackillop » Fri Nov 08, 2013 6:10 pm

Hey folks,

After rebuilding the front brake calipers (new seals, pads, re-lubed the pivot bolt, lines bled) I've been taking it out for a spin twice a week or so before putting it up in the garage for the winter tear down project.

after the rebuild I took it for a ride and heard a clicking noise. It sounded like a tapping on the fairing, but then I realized as I pressed the front brakes the clicking would cease.

What could it be and does it mean another rebuild or is it the rotor?

If it's the rotors is there a good place to get new ones / resurface / swap from another (newer) bike?

Thanks for your help. If it's a bigger issue it will go onto my itemized list of things to do for the build!

Taylor.

Did you replace the anti-chatter plates ?
The only silly question is the one you don`t ask. Everything else is game.

david,

I don't even think it had anti rattle clips. And just to clarify, you don't mean the retaining spring, that seats the pads in place?

Thanks.

The anti chatter plates are shown on schematics as pad springs . Sorry if I confuse you , my terminology is slightly different from the norm. It is just the way I was trained 45 years ago. :?
