GN4 10-40 oil

Postby FlashBack » Wed Dec 18, 2013 12:45 pm

I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on using the GN4 10-40 oil that is for sale at my local Honda dealer in my 1983 GL1100? It states that it is designed for Honda Motorcycles, however, I have not heard of it before. Am i better off using the Vavoline 10-40 oil designed specifically for wet clutch?
Trying to save a few buscks but not worth it if the GN4 is not as good as another motor oil.
As always, thank you in advance for suggestions and feedback

I use it my dirt bikes (CRF450, CRF230, XR200, CRF150) and have never had any problems with it. I run the wing on Rotella just because everyone says it makes for smoother gear changes. I wouldn't be worried to use the GN4 in a wing.

Thank You. I will go ahead and try it. I guess if i notice a change in shifting, i can always change the oil again

I did the oil change and used the GN4 oil. The bike actually seems to shift smoother now.
1 gallon was 22.50 adn the Fram oil filter was 4.25 with o-rings. Saved some money doing it myself and didnt take too long.
Thanks again

I have used the GN4 10-40 in my "83 Aspy and my '85 Pacific Coast, and have had no problems at all. They both seem to like it just fine.
Happy New Year to all.

'85 Pacific Coast? That would be an interesting bike to see, as the first Pacific Coast was the 1989 model year. :)
