Wiring

Postby moritz1100 » Thu Jan 09, 2014 10:21 am

Hey guys, I was replacing my fuse box with a modern blade fuse box and I'm almost finished but I noticed these 2 green earth wires with no home. Can't see where they would bolt on and everything is working fine as is. Any chance someone could go out and check theirs please?!
Thanks in advance!

They look like an aftermarket ground harness, it's a method used to get around poor grounding that causes alternator whine in the headset/audio system. I don't recall where all the grounds go, but I remember there was one at the rectifier, one at the battery negative post, one at the air filter wing nut, and one somewhere else. They are all tied together. Does that look like what you've got?

Thanks Wingadmin, yup there's 3 or 4 terminals on it, one is going to the rectifier and one is down at the battery. Will bolt them on somewhere tomorrow!.

I think one went to the ACC ground terminal as well.

A suggestion: that's an awful lot of exposed metal with +12V on it, your blade terminal connectors. And in the case of the feed side, it's unfused - that's a fire/meltdown waiting to happen. I'd HIGHLY recommend you get some heat-shrink tubing and shrink it around those exposed metal connectors, to avoid stray wires, metal, or whatever falling against one of those things, shorting out and making your day a really bad one.
