Color coding on Electronic ignition 82 GL1100

Postby realetybytes » Sat Jan 18, 2014 1:04 pm

I purchased an engine, 1982 1100. Plug from electronic ignition is cut off. It has 4 wires: Blue, yellow w/blue stripe, white, and white w/blue stripe. Working on old bike that has been worked on by many before me. Any suggestions as to which 2 feed the coils and which 2 need power...or ground?
Thanks

Looking at the circuit below, the igniters have five wires each:

Yellow: To coil
Black/White: +12V
Green: Ground
Blue: From pickup coil
White: From pickup coil

Thanks. My 79 was set up completely different. No spark units.

Yes, GL1000's have points instead. They switched to electronic ignition with the GL1100's.
