what kind of seat is this?

Postby jhbates2000 » Sun Jan 26, 2014 1:25 am

Ok I need to get a replacement seat cover for my bike. I have a picture of the bike with the seat on it in my profile pics but was unsure how to attach it to this. Either way I would to get a replacement cover but I am not sure what kind of seat it is exactly. If anyone would take the time to look at my pictures and see if they could point me in the right direction I would be much appreciative

It might help if you took a more detailed pic of the seat. The photo in your profile does not show enough to even guess .
The only silly question is the one you don`t ask. Everything else is game.

Here's the picture but hard to guess as was mentioned.

"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

No idea what kind of seat but I would find a local upholsterer to have it recovered.

Pretty sure it's a Russell Day-Long seat http://www.day-long.com/

I'm curious as to how you like that seat...I've only put about 1000 miles on my new-to-me 83 before the weather went away but I'm thinking I may want to change the seat...not sure as to what I would choose. Russell seats have a great reputation and I'm sure that they could recover it for you but it probably wont be cheap.

Got to Russell Day longs website at: http://www.day-long.com/
and go to the contact tab. Get the phone number and call them and they will be able to explain what they can do to the seat if you send/take it to them.

Or go to your local upholstery shop.

Don't expect this to be a $20 fix. Plan to spend 150 to 300 dollars to get this done correctly and with materials that will last and work in the weather. Remember a new Russell costs around $1000 or so.

You might also take the seat off and look for a tag or something that tells who made the seat. I doubt you would find that on a Honda Seat but I recall one on my last Russell and Corbin.
