82 clutch

Postby 1fastgl1100 » Sat Feb 01, 2014 8:24 pm

I need to replace the clutch in my 82 1100.. the manual keeps referring to a clutch lifter piece yet never shows it or describes its location.
also the manual never says whether to soak clutch plates in oil or leave dry?

Cant help you with the clutch lifter piece but seeing as though these are wet clutches and are going to be living in an oil bath once installed I would presoak the new plates over night in the same oil . 8-)

Clutch lifter piece is probably the offset finger attached to the shaft that the clutch cable pulls when you operate the clutch lever.

Can't imagine it being anything else.

I found this on Ebay, could it be the elusive lifter plate in question? 8-)
