Aftermarket Tail Light

Post by Jakez » Sat Feb 08, 2014 2:18 pm

Hi Guys. Its Jakez here all the way from SA. Sorry to bother you with this, but I'm a 1st time Goldwing owner and I'm really struggeling with the following. I bought a new tail light today that's a brake light and number plate light as well. The new light has 2 wires. 1 red and 1 black. The bike itself has 3 wires. 1 solid green, 1 green with yellow stripe and 1 brown. What do I connect where? I would really appreciate any help on the above matter, taking in consideration that I'm not an auto electrician nor a mechanic nor with any background of such.

The bike.Solid Green is ground ( Led black wire) Green/yellow should be the brake light (Led red wire) brown usually is the marker/tail light wire.

Okay the light is on, but nothing happens when I pull the front brake or push the brake pedal? Any ideas?

What bulb # is installed for brake light? I think if you've only got two wires, you're either on or off for everything.
Sounds like you have a taillight, not a brake light.

Firstly guys please excuse my stupidity, but like I said I don't know anything about bikes except how to ride them and above that my native language is Afrikaans so excuse any tipo's as well please....for your answer its a bulb that came with the after market light. Its got 2 wires inside....(A double contact globe) if I'm not mistaken

Oh hell. Sorry, should've read more carefully. Okay cool I get it. So now I have to get a seperate brake light! Darn. Wonder if I can mount it in my top box. The guys at the custom shop should have been more clear about that........aaargghhh
