1982 Aspencade Tachometer Cable Replacement

Postby marktwark » Fri Feb 14, 2014 6:50 pm

I can't figure out how to remove the tachometer cable from the engine near the fuel pump on my 82 Aspencade. I saw an article from an 83 model but mine doesn't look like that. Am I missing something?

I just went out to the shed and took this picture of my 82aspy so it will be the same as yours.
Seen from the rear of the bike, the upper left bolt that is loose. Remove that and wiggle the cable free. There is an o-ring on the cable housing and it may be stuck. 8-)

After you went to the shed then posted that picture, I went to the garage and extracted the cable. Thanks for taking the time to do all that. Problem solved!...... Mark

A bit of help The 82 GL1100 has a Tach cable that reads from the fuel pump drive. the 83 GL1100 has an electronic dash and its tach reads via a wire and not a cable.
So the picture you saw of the 83 did not have a cable to look at.
