Air compressor on a 1982 Aspencade

Postby urbanmadness » Tue Feb 18, 2014 12:17 am

I just purchased a 1982 Aspencade last weekend and I have a question about the onboard air compressor. My bike is a little rough, heck it didn't even make it home, but that's a story for a different time.... anyway, in trying to fix it, I had to remove the false tank and I have a question about the air compressor. Is it mounted? Mine is just flopping around inside the false tank... shouldn't it be mounted?

It just sits in a recess on top of the air filter housing and is liable to appear to " flop around "
The only silly question is the one you don`t ask. Everything else is game.

It does appear to be loose (which is why it's covered in rubber), but in practice, it stays put once things are put together.

Every 82 Aspencade came from the factory with the air compressor.

It was just a thought , as my 82A has a speedometer in a range of 220 kmh and 130 mlh scale.l guess someone else had to remove system and than instaled regular false thank and some generic rear shocks. So l am going to disconnect blue ground wire from a sensor as you have suggested (in some other posts) and get warning lite off, until I make my mind about reinstalling system.
