stuck stater bolt

Postby washandy98664 » Sat Mar 08, 2014 4:57 pm

Was going to do my value guide seals today but ran into a problem.
The stater bolt will not budge.
I need this off to spin the motor while doing each valve.
I have taken the battery box out for better access but the thing is just on too tight. I guess I put too much power in to tightening it last spring.
Any ideas as to getting this thing off would be great.
I have buggered up the head pretty good trying to use vice grips.

I guess I put it on to tightly Las spring

I'm assuming you mean the cover over the stator bolt. The one you have to remove so you can put a wrench on the bolt to turn the engine. If so they are still available from Honda. Its uses on many different Honda models.

As mentioned, it's still available as new from Honda. I know, I replaced mine, as a PO had destroyed the head of it using vice grips.

In the meantime, you can put the bike in fifth gear and rotate the rear tire (forward). This will rotate the engine.

Geez....They don't call it snail mail for nothing.
Took 11 days to go a few hundred miles.
Must have had a vacation in customs. Thats a long trip from BC to Washington.
Got it anyway.
Thanks RoadRogue for the stater nut.

Mail that goes across the border between the US and Canada is extremely slow. I ship items all over the world, and apart from Spain and Brazil, Canada is the slowest. I can send an item to England that will get there in 5 days, the same item will take 2+ weeks to go 150 miles to Canada.
