1980 knocking noise only during warm up

Postby liemsdad4130 » Sun Mar 09, 2014 3:25 pm

Weird knocking noise that sounds like it's coming right under the tank. Either carbs or top of motor area. It goes away completely once it is warmed up. Any helpful tips in the right direction?

That sounds right. I will sync them and post back if it changed anything.

The chain from the trans and the output shaft can make a lot of noise when it's not running right.Carb sync sounds like a good idea.
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.

I know it is best to have 4 vacuum gauges for this process but if I have 1, would I just get my reading then shut off the bike and switch it to the next one?

Yes, you can do that, or you can set up a bunch of aquarium valves and T-connectors, and just switch between them all without having to shut down and disconnect/reconnect each time.

That's a great idea. I have an unlimited supply of air line and the valves
